Florida has a stellar collection of roadside rest stops, the first in the nation; most have heavy patrols so they are safe. In addition, because of the tropical weather, the rest stops are covered but open to the air, instead of air conditioned. Often, they are big enough that they don’t even have doors, and are perhaps the cleanest in the United States.
