Mr. Toad’s No Longer Wild Ride, 20,000 Leagues and Disappeared Retro Disney
October 28, 2011
LAKE BUENA VISTA – Many folks come to Walt Disney World and look for classic rides such as 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride and other iconic attractions from the 1970s.
This fall, Disney brought out a few for viewing at EPCOT.
First, nice that they kept them around. But it might be more fun to run them, eh?
Lego Man Needs Permanent Home On Siesta Key

SARASOTA – We do hope the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office lets him free! And perhaps Sarasota can find him a permanent home at Siesta Key, where he washed up, like Moses, on the beach.
Do you agree? Where should he stay?
Tic Toc in Daytona Beach, Where Jay and Sis Entertained
October 18, 2011
DAYTONA BEACH – We happened upon the Flickr site of William Bird’s site of Florida postcards and history, and saw this old postcard of the Tic Toc.
Wethinks if it were still around, it would be a big hit.
The place was actually the Tic-Toc Cocktail Bar Restaurant Pit Bar-B-Que and Package Store. What a name.
It was at 2120 So. Atlantic Ave. The back of the card read “Most popular meeting place in the heart of 2000 Cottage Colony on World Famous Beach. Open 7 days a week. Bathers welcome. “Jay” and “Sis” your hosts.
Take a look at the Flickr site..its alot of fun. It’s called Edge and Corner Wear

October 18, 2011
Women are invited to explore the finest of fishing at the next “Ladies, Let’s Go Fishing!” seminar, Nov. 11-13 at the Holiday Isle Resort and Marina in Islamorada.
“Ladies, Let’s Go Fishing!” is a national organization dedicated to attracting more women to sport fishing and to promoting conservation and responsible angling. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is co-hosting the event through the Sport Fish Restoration Program.
During the three-day, hands-on event, FWC educators will demonstrate ethical angler habits such as safe hook removal, release techniques and more. Local fishing guides will provide instruction on fishing techniques and methods.
“Our Islamorada seminar provides women with a unique experiential vacation getaway where they can learn, network and enjoy the fabulous Florida Keys and all of its remarkable fishing,” said Betty Bauman, founder of the series.
On the final day of the seminar, women may embark on an optional fishing trip.

Tampa Adds Flights to Havana
October 3, 2011
TAMPA – Tampa International Airport on Sept. 8, 2011 launched its first nonstop flight to Havana, Cuba, after nearly 50 years. It was operated by Xael Charters and partner Sky King Inc.
In June, the Airport’s five-member board of directors adopted a financial incentive program for airlines which could bring more international service to Tampa. One new international flight can translate to an estimated $150 million in economic impact to the Airport and the regional economy bringing approximately 1200 well-paying jobs and business development.
With longstanding ties to Cuba, the Tampa area is one of 12 other U.S. airports to have been granted rights, including Miami, New York and L.A.
On Saturday, September 10, 2011, ABC Charters along with American Airlines launched its inaugural flight from Tampa to Havana, with a third weekly flight beginning in October by Island Travel and Tours, Ltd.
