Doubletree Miami Mart Near MIA
May 1, 2011
MIAMI - The Doubletree Miami Mart is a nicely run hotel with an exceedingly friendly staff, including a clerk who used to be a youth pastor and a chief bellman has been there for two decades.
This property near Miami International carries a West Indies style and has two restaurants. Frequented by pilots and flight crews, it has a departure board in the lobby. It is connected to the slightly odd “mall” of the Miami Convention Center, which is redeemed for having an Au Bon Pain in the center.
The hotel opened as a Radisson, and the exterior has the classic 1980s Radisson look, namely smoked glass. Sadly, as with most hotels these days, the windows have been locked shut, though you can step out to the east steps at the end of the hall and get some fresh air on each floor. Do get a room to the north side, so you can see the jumbo jets come in from around the globe.
They have two restaurants, and a decent pool area.

Nice review but needs some updates! They are currently under new ownership that has invested a lot of money to upscale and change the image of this unique destination. Firstly, the hotel Doubletree is re-Branding to DoubleTree by Hilton and upscaling the whole brand to a next level to compete with Hilton and Marriott full service. They converted an old tired exposition hall into a high tech Multilevel and Miami’s second largest Convention Center. The sligtly odd mall next to the DoubleTree is one of only five wholesale mart in the country and the only one in Florida. They sell exclusively to retailer but if you stay at the DoubleTree you can shop in the mall with saving ranging from 50% to 80%. Thank you for reviewing this wonderful new venue as many of us miss out on “what’s Happening in Miami”
