Sarasota’s Hob Nob, Classic Florida Drive-In

May 18, 2010

SARASOTA – Just north of downtown Sarasota on Route 301 is the Hob Nob, an outdoor burger drive-in that opened in 1957. It’s a local landmark.

The restaurant was started by Mr. & Mrs. Jack Sohner and now owned by Cary and Debby Spicuzza, who purchased it in 1991. Situated at 1701 N. Washington Boulevard, it is completely open air, with meals served either at the bar or on well-shaded picnic tables.

It has drive-in food like shakes (made with Edy’s ice cream), as well as beer. Burger buns are not toasted. It’s a nice crowd, and quite pleasant stop.
